GoPA – Automated GPA Calculating and Analysis System

Introduction
Welcome to GoPA, the Automated GPA Calculating and Analysis Web Application developed for the Faculty of Computing, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. It helps students of the Department of Software Engineering (21/22 batch) calculate, track and analyze their Grade Point Average (GPA) from available academic results.
Purpose of the System
GoPA provides the following services:
- Automated GPA calculation: semester-wise and cumulative GPA with real-time updates.
- Performance analytics: trends across semesters and years in visual dashboards.
- Repeat detection: courses that may need to be repeated to improve your GPA.
- Academic planning: better self-awareness and planning for future goals.
Data Collection
To provide its services, GoPA collects:
University email
Official @std.foc.sab.ac.lk address for login and OTP
Index number
University registration ID
Password
Hashed securely using bcrypt
Academic results
For GPA calculation and analysis
All data is derived from academic records or datasets provided by the Department of Software Engineering for academic or analytical purposes only.
Use of Collected Information
Your information is used exclusively for:
- Verifying the authenticity of student registration
- Calculating and displaying GPA and performance analytics
- Providing personalized dashboards and insights
- Sending OTP verification codes for account security
Our guarantee
Data Storage & Security
Protected storage
User information is stored securely and access is restricted.
Password hashing
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
Secure hosting
The system is hosted in a controlled environment.
Your responsibility
Keep your login details private and report suspicious activity.

GoPA is not an official product or service of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. It is a student-developed academic project created for educational and informational purposes only.
The developers do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any GPA data, calculations or analytics. Users are solely responsible for verifying their official results through the university's official systems.
The developers will not be held responsible for any academic, personal, financial or legal consequences resulting from the use, misuse or reliance on information provided by this application.
User Responsibility
By using GoPA, you agree to:
- Acknowledge that this is a non-official GPA estimation and analysis tool
- Not use GoPA data for official academic, administrative or legal purposes
- Register only with your official university email and index number
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share your account
- Report technical issues, bugs or security concerns immediately
User Consent
By registering for and using GoPA, you explicitly consent to this Privacy and Policy Agreement and agree to abide by its terms. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use the service.
Policy Updates
This agreement may be updated to reflect changes in practices, legal requirements or features. Significant changes will be communicated through:
- In-app notifications upon login
- Email to registered university addresses
- Updates on this page
Continued use of GoPA after an update means you accept the revised terms.
